ଉତ୍କଳ ଦୀପିକାର ଏହି ଡିଜିଟାଲ୍ ପୁନରୁଦ୍ଧାର ପର୍ବକୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ୱାଗତ। ୧୮୬୬ ମସିହା ଅଗଷ୍ଟ ୪ ତାରିଖରେ ଭୟାବହ ନଅଙ୍କ ଦୁର୍ଭିକ୍ଷ ସମୟରେ ପ୍ରଥମ କରି ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ଏହି ଐତିହାସିକ ପତ୍ରିକା ଓଡ଼ିଆ ନବଜାଗରଣର ମୂଳଦୁଆ ସାଜିଥିଲା। ଦଶନ୍ଧି ଦଶନ୍ଧି ଧରି ଏହି ସମ୍ବାଦପତ୍ର ଓଡ଼ିଆଭାଷୀ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଶାସନିକ ବିଚ୍ଛିନ୍ନତା ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଏକ ଦୃଢ଼ ସଂଗ୍ରାମ ଚଳାଇଥିଲା, ଯାହା ପଡ଼ୋଶୀ ମାଡ୍ରାସ, ବେଙ୍ଗଲ୍, ସେଣ୍ଟ୍ରାଲ୍ ପ୍ରୋଭିନ୍ସ (କେନ୍ଦ୍ରୀୟ ପ୍ରଦେଶ) ଏବଂ ବିହାରର ଦୀର୍ଘଦିନର ପ୍ରଶାସନିକ କବଳରୁ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଅଞ୍ଚଳକୁ ମୁକ୍ତ କରିବାରେ ସଫଳ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଭାଷାଗତ ଏବଂ ସାଂସ୍କୃତିକ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ପାଇଁ ଚାଲିଥିବା ଏହି ଅକ୍ଳାନ୍ତ ସଂଗ୍ରାମର ସଫଳ ସ୍ୱରୂପ ୧୯୩୬ ମସିହା ଏପ୍ରିଲ ୧ ତାରିଖରେ ଭାଷା ଭିତ୍ତିରେ ଗଠିତ ଭାରତର ପ୍ରଥମ ସ୍ୱତନ୍ତ୍ର ପ୍ରଦେଶ ଭାବେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଜନ୍ମ ହେଲା। ଆମର ଏହି ଗର୍ବୋଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳ ମୁଦ୍ରଣ ଐତିହ୍ୟକୁ ଆଧୁନିକ ଡିଜିଟାଲ୍ ଯୁଗ ସହିତ ଯୋଡ଼ି, ଏହି ପୋର୍ଟାଲ୍ ଆଞ୍ଚଳିକ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତାର ସେହି ଐତିହାସିକ ଯାତ୍ରାକୁ ସମ୍ମାନ ଜଣାଉଛି ଏବଂ ଆଗାମୀ ପିଢ଼ି ପାଇଁ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଅସ୍ମିତା ତଥା ସାମ୍ବାଦିକତାର ମଶାଲକୁ ସଦା ପ୍ରଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳିତ ରଖିବାକୁ ସଂକଳ୍ପବଦ୍ଧ।

First published on 4 August 1866 during the catastrophic Na'anka Durbhiksha famine, this historic publication stood as the foundational voice of the Odia renaissance. For decades, the newspaper spearheaded the fierce struggle to free the Odia-speaking people from administrative fragmentation, fracturing the long-standing clutches of the surrounding Madras, Bengal, and Central Provinces, alongside Bihar. This relentless crusade for linguistic and cultural autonomy ultimately culminated on 1 April 1936 with the foundation of Odisha as India’s very first state formed on a linguistic basis. By bridging our proud printing heritage with the modern digital era, this portal honors that historic journey toward regional independence, keeping the flame of Odia identity and journalism burning bright for generations to come.

Contribution of butterfly to cyclone Titli

  How in god’s name is that possible? How can something comparatively as irrelevant as a butterfly have any impact on something as big as a cyclone, that too “very severe cyclonic storm(VSCS)” as  categorized in IMD cyclone category scale. Now, a person privy to chaos theory would say it’s  possible. Not certainly probable, but not impossible either.   Before we get started, I’ll talk a little more about cyclone Titli. VSCS Titli was a tropical cyclone  that was deadly and destructive, it caused a huge loss and damage to Eastern India. Titli was the  fifth named storm to form in the North Indian ocean in 2018. It originated as a low pressure system on October 7 in Andaman sea, with IMD estimated peak winds of 150 Km/h on late October 10 just hours before landfall. Titli made landfall over the eastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, and weakened as it moved northeastward towards Odisha. By October 12, it got degenerate enough to die out.  ...
